Privacy & Data Practices

Privacy Policy

Your wall length, stud spacing, and lumber sizes stay on your device. This page explains what little data we do collect, how cookies and analytics work, and the steps we take to keep things secure.

At a glance
  • Framing inputs never leave your browser
  • No server-side database of your walls or studs
  • Only basic analytics & cookies
  • You can clear saved inputs anytime

TL;DR: The framing calculator runs entirely in your browser. We never see your wall length, stud count, plate boards, sheathing sheets, board feet, or rafter dimensions. We only collect anonymous traffic analytics.

Section 01

Overview

This Privacy Policy explains how Framing Calculator(“we”, “us”, or “our”) collects, uses, and safeguards information when you visit our website and use our wall framing calculator tools.

The short version: the wall length, stud spacing, stud size, stock board length, sheet width, and unit preferences you type into the calculator are processed locally in your browser and are not sent to or stored on our servers. We only collect basic analytics and what is needed to keep the site running.

Section 02

Information We Collect

Server Logs & Analytics

When you visit our site, our servers and analytics provider may automatically record information your browser sends. This may include:

  • Your IP address (used for rough country/state location, not to identify you)
  • Browser type, version, and screen resolution
  • The pages you visit and approximate time spent
  • The referring page or search query that brought you here
  • Approximate region at the country or state level

Messages You Send Us

If you email support or submit feedback, we receive whatever you choose to include in that message — for example, the wall length and stud-spacing values you describe, a screenshot of the calculator, and your email address so we can reply.

Section 03

Your Framing Inputs

100% Local Processing — Nothing Leaves Your Browser

The values you enter into the framing calculator — wall length, stud height, on-center spacing (16″ or 24″), stud nominal size (2x4 / 2x6), stock board length (8 / 10 / 12 / 16 ft), sheet width (4′ / 8′), rake angle for gable walls, and unit system (imperial or metric) — are processed locally in your browser. The stud-count math, plate-board rounding, sheathing sheet and rip-cut calculation, board-foot lookup, and cost math all run on your device, not on our servers.

We do not transmit, store, aggregate, or read your project measurements. If you close the tab, that input is gone unless your browser saved it locally for convenience (see Cookies & Storage below).

Section 04

Cookies & Local Storage

We use cookies and browser local storage to:

  • Remember your unit preference (imperial ft/in or metric m/mm)
  • Remember your last-used framing inputs so you don’t retype them on return visits
  • Remember which project type tab you were on (wall / gable / rafter)
  • Measure aggregate traffic and page performance through analytics
  • Serve relevant ads if advertising partners are enabled

You can clear these at any time from your browser settings, and the calculator will keep working with its default imperial (ft / in) settings and default wall framing project type.

Section 05

Third-Party Services

We may use third-party companies for analytics and to serve advertisements. These companies may use cookies and web beacons to collect non-personal information such as:

  • Click and scroll behavior on our pages
  • Browser type and version
  • Time and date of visits
  • Which ads were shown and whether they were clicked

This information is used to improve the site and show ads that may interest you. To learn more about behavioral advertising or to opt out, visit Network Advertising Initiative .

Section 06

Data Security

We use appropriate technical and organizational measures — including HTTPS/TLS, static hosting with modern CDN edge security, and minimal data retention — to protect the limited data we hold against unauthorized access, alteration, disclosure, or destruction.

Because your framing inputs are processed in your browser and never uploaded, there is no server-side database of your wall lengths, stud counts, plate boards, or sheathing takeoffs to breach. No method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure, but we keep what we do collect to an absolute minimum and delete logs on a rolling schedule.

Section 07

Your Choices

  • Clear your saved unit preference and framing inputs any time via your browser’s site-data settings.
  • Block or delete cookies in your browser; the calculator still works with its defaults.
  • Opt out of interest-based ads through the Network Advertising Initiative link above.
  • Request that any personal information you sent us by email be deleted from our inbox.

If you live in a region with data-protection rights (such as GDPR, UK GDPR, or CCPA), you may contact us to access, correct, or delete the personal data we hold about you.

Section 08

Children's Privacy

Our Service is a professional wall framing and lumber takeoff tool and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will promptly remove it.

Section 09

Policy Updates

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page with an updated “Last updated” date.

We encourage you to review this page periodically. Continued use of our Service after any changes constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
